Over 18 months, I collected the waste from my household to create this body of work and to show the intimate impact a family of four can have on the environment. The ubiquity of such mass-produced forms allowed me a great deal of freedom and interesting design challenges as I developed a language for myself by finding new lines, colors, and forms. I have grown to relish the challenge of transforming a wide variety of discarded plastics into richly patterned and joyful works of art that satisfy my need for handcrafted objects with my commitment to socially engaged ideas.
